Day 3 : Adelaide

See the highlights of South Australia’s premier nature-based tourism destination, Kangaroo Island. From Remarkable Rocks to playful fur seals, SeaLink guides will take you to the Kangaroo Island’s natural highlights. This is simply the best 1 Day Kangaroo Island tour available.

Take a guided walk on the beach among a colony of rare and wild Australian sea lions with a National Parks Ranger. Head to Vivonne Bay Bistro for a two-course lunch, followed by a visit to the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary where you will see koalas relaxing in the trees.  Spend the afternoon at Flinders Chase National Park, renowned as a sanctuary for native Australian animals including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and echidnas.

The tour of the park will take you to the rugged southern coastline for a walk on Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provides great photographic opportunities and stunning sea views. Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal this spectacular rock archway, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals that can be seen resting, swimming and playing in the waves or on the rocks.

A leisurely midday departure is complicated with a gourmet lunch being served soon after we pull away from the Adelaide Parkland Terminal. Travelling through the picturesque id-North, you then pass by some of the oldest rock formations on the planet – the Flinders Ranges. Perhaps indulge in a pre-dinner drink or two, followed by a superb meal and some excited discussions with fellow diners as you anticipate tomorrow morning breathtakingly beautiful Outback Experience.

Day 5 : Alice Springs

Wake up with a coffee or juice and witness an unforgettable outback sunrise at our new morning stop in Marla in the remote reaches of SA.

Rising early, you alight the train to watch the sun come up over the desert. You have never truly experienced a sunrise until you have seen one in the heart of the Australian outback. And as you look out to the horizon and of its dramatic, beautiful colors as you look down and realize the very earth you are standing on is equally vivid and deep red.

Back on board, it's time for brunch. Enjoy a light bite from the extensive menu or order something a little more substantial - perhaps a full breakfast complete with eggs just the way you like them. And while you're in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant why not try the Belgium chocolate waffle with strawberries, chocolate saucy and double cream? You are on holiday after all! After a few more coffees, fresh juices and more incredible outback scenery, you'll be arriving in iconic Alice Springs.

Brunch is served on the train soon you are crossing the state border and into the Northern Territory. Then glide through the MacDonnell Ranges and arrive at Alice Springs (or the Alice, as it known by the locals) in the afternoon.

Day 6 : Alice Springs

Experience the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Marvel at towering fiery red walls set aglow by the desert sun as you drive along the ranges. We tour through these amazing ranges all day and stop at beautiful gorges and waterholes, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the warmer months.

The spectacular outback scenery and photo opportunities as we travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at historic sites. Enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm (for morning tea), the Ochre Pits, and Ormiston Gorge for lunch. Our next stop is at Glen Helen, then on our way back to Alice Springs, we stop for afternoon time at Ellery Creek Big Hole. This waterhole is one of Central Australia’s most pristine, so don’t forget your swimmers in the warmer months!

The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons and purples on display. These mighty ranges light up in brilliant oranges and reds at sunset on the return trip to Alice Springs.

Day 7 : Yulara

An amazing journey in the heart of Central Australia where you will experience the wonders of Kata Tjuta & Uluru.

Our professional tour guides show you the real outback they love and enjoy so much.

We collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation at approximately 6am and head to our first stop at Erldunda (home of the Emu) for a buffet breakfast.

If you’re starting the tour from Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) we pick you up from the Outback Pioneer Hotel at approximately 11:45am.

After a quick stop we provide you with a freshly made packed lunch to eat on the drive to the World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Kata Tjuta

We travel to Kata Tjuta (Olgas) for the first walk of the day into Walpa Gorge. Embrace the domes of Kata-Tjuta on your first walk of the day, while taking in the views of the open plains on the return walk.

Aboriginal Cultural Centre

We then visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will have time to learn about the local Pitjantjatjara people and buy some souvenirs. The Cultural Centre was built with 90,000 mud bricks with the help of the local Anangu people. It is built on a sacred site and has very special meaning to the local Anangu people.

Uluru – Mala Walk

We then head to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock), which is next to the entrance to the Uluru climb. From here one of the two guides will take you on a guided Mala Walk. The Mala Walk follows the north-west side of Uluru, where there are many fine examples of Anangu rock art, and you can experience the wonder of the sheer vertical walls. The guide will tell dreamtime stories of the Anangu People.

Uluru – Mutitjulu Waterhole

We drive from the front of Uluru around to the Kuniya car park, which is at the back of Uluru. From here we start our second Uluru guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. The guide will take you along a short track to the Mutitjulu Waterhole – home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. The guide will share stories of local traditions and explain how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting. The caves containing rock art were used in the past by Anangu still alive today.

The Sunset BBQ

The scene has been set, the highlight of the day, the breathtaking Uluru sunset with a glass of bubbly(or BYO beer) and a delicious Aussie BBQ. A spectacular day never to be forgotten. After sunset, we set off to Alice Springs. Or if you’re ending the tour at Ayers Rock Resort you’ll be dropped off at Desert Gardens after sunset.

Day 8 : Yulara

Today you’ll be up early to drive to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – the Uluru sunrise viewing area. During the journey your experienced Driver Guide will share some history on the numerous sacred sites that you’ll pass along the way. These stories form part of what is known to the local Anangu people as Tjukurpa – the foundation of Anangu life and culture. Tjukurpa encompasses Anangu religion, law and moral systems, the creation period and the relationship between people, plants, animals and the land.

  • Morning Tea: Once at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku you’ll be served a morning tea of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and an assortment of sweet biscuits while you begin to familiarise yourself with the beautiful surroundings. You can just relax and take a seat or wander around the viewing area in search of your own personal place to watch the sunrise.
  • Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku Viewing Area: Simply translated, ‘Talinguruul Nyakunytjaku’ means ‘to look from the sand dunes’ and this area of Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park lets you do just that. You’ll be captivated by the view from the dunes as the sun rises over Uluru in the foreground and Kata Tjuta in the distance.
  • Sunrise over Uluru: The Talinguru Nyakunytjaku viewing platform allows you to see for many kilometres. From here you’ll witness first light as it gently embraces the desert landscape. You’ll no doubt want to take advantage of the amazing photo opportunities that this experience provides. As the sun rises so too does the incredible birdlife that calls Uluru home. This tour takes you to the inspiring red-hued sedimentary rock domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) to watch the sunset. They are thought to have originally been one huge piece of rock, much like Uluru, that has weathered over millions of years to become an intriguing series of individual formations. As evening approaches, each passing minute brings something new as the domes continue to change colour with the setting sun.

  • Leave the resort and travel out to the 36 steep-sided domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) – the hidden gem of Central Australia

Day 14 : Sydney

Explore the World Heritage-Listed Blue Mountains in style, starting with an early morning interaction with Australia’s native animals. Get up close to a Koala then have the opportunity to hand feed a Kangaroo and see Wombats, Dingos and native birds as you enjoy morning tea (included). A highlight of the day is a stop at Scenic World where you can enjoy a ride on the Scenic Railway, Cableway and Skyway, a great way to see the steep valleys, canyons and get another perspective of the Three Sisters. Take a walk along the Rainforest boardwalk and immerse yourself in nature from the valley floor.

Enjoy a delicious lunch in a charming café in the heart of the Blue Mountains surrounded by locals then enjoy some free time discovering the unique mountain town of Leura with its quaint shops. Have the option to return to Sydney on board a river cruise and take in the surrounding harbourside suburbs before arriving at Darling Harbour or Circular Quay.
